A amstrad macrumors member Original poster Apr 16, 2012 #1 Hello everyone, I would like to upgrade a 3GS running but I can't find a 5.0.1 ipsw. The only ipsw that seems to be available is the 5.1. The iPhone is officially unlocked so is it safe to upgrade it to 5.1 and still be able to jailbreak it ? Thanks

Kyotoma macrumors 68000 Apr 16, 2012 #2 Depend on the bootrom and production date (check your serial number), you can jailbreak untethered. If not, you can still Jailbreak, it'll just be a tethered jailbreak.

Kyotoma macrumors 68000 Apr 16, 2012 #4 iOS 5.1. iOS 5.0.1 would be untethered. Do you have SHSH blobs for 5.0.1?
A amstrad macrumors member Original poster Apr 16, 2012 #5 According to Cydia, yes. 5.0.1 is fine. If 5.0.1 is untethered, I'd rather not upgrade to 5.1.
