Bought my 2.0 ghz aluminum sex ob---I mean, macbook. It looks ridiculously easy to upgrade the memory to 4 gb and put in a 7200 rpm drive. Does anyone know of any benchmarks or studies of this on the new machines? How much of a difference would it make in everyday use?

I had a terrible time with the original 2gb memory configuration. The macbook would constantly run out of memory and the slow downs were unbearable.

Fixed by a 4gb ram upgrade from OWC: http://soymint.com/node/5

As you said, the ram upgrade was a piece of cake.

I'm planning the same upgrades right now. Gonna do 4GB from OWC, but I'm still torn on the HD. How much real-world difference will 5400 vs. 7200rpm make?

im waiting for DDR3 memory prices to half. at the moment its too expensive for me. Im also waiting to crap a terabyte into it when a terabyte laptop drive is under NZ$200

Whoa:eek: 1TB HDD in a MacBook? That's insane. I'm with you on that one. I would love :3 1TB, but thus far, 250GB has proven more than enough, so far....
