Have had my Air 2 since the release date (about 5 years I think). No major issues with my Air 2 except the battery not holding a charge for more than about two days, and it can be slow when I have multiple Safari tabs open. I do mostly basic tasks with my Ipad. I was initially thinking about the new Air coming out, however, 64GB just won't cover it for me. So with the upgrade to 256GB for the new Air, I am only paying $50 more to move to the Pro with 128GB (which will be perfect for me). Even though I'm not doing anything too powerful on my Ipad, I think that the $50 is worth it. I plan to keep this Ipad for several years to come. I'm not in an area where I can go and test out a Pro to compare it to my Air 2. So my question......do you think that this will be a significant upgrade, and if so, in what areas? Thanks in advance for your response!

From iPad Air 2 64 gb wifi to iPad Pro 12.9“ 2018 64 gb wifi. My only complaints are about gb (256 could be more comfortabl) and lte (in my hospital wifi network really sucks!). Never looked back!

If you’re in that sweet spot where 64 GB isn’t quite enough but 256 GB is overkill, I’d spend the extra $50 and get the 128 GB Pro over the 256 GB Air. I put my full thoughts on this in another thread if you’re interested.

Seems like you'd enjoy the "regular" ipad. Slightly larger screen but much faster than the Pro. You can also get 128GB for $429.
Personally, that's the model I'd upgrade to because it has a lightning port, because promotion makes me sick and I'd immediately disable it, I like using my iPad caseless and not having a camera bump is huge.
And the big reason that I've asked in the iPad forum before - what does the Pro do that the non-pro doesn't do.
I've used art apps, games, video etc, all with the non-pro iPad with no performance sluggishness, that are discernible on iPhone and Mac on older or slower models.
So iPad makes most sense to me, for you. Best of luck deciding!

I came from an Air 2 and went to a 2020 iPad Pro 11” and super happy I did. Main reasons
- 6GB RAM - Apple rarely increase RAM so the fact that they did in the 2020 iPad Pros tells me they have built these things for the long term
- Size - the 11” iPad Pro is not that much bigger than the Air 2, but it fits a much larger screen.
- FaceID - it is so good to have this as all I do is tap the screen and it unlocks or if it’s next to my laptop and I get a notification I just look at it and it unlocks
- Quad speakers - you will love this if you sometimes watch YouTube etc.. on your iPad and don’t always want to use headphone.
- 120hz refresh screen is a nice jump up and amazing on a large screen, you will not want to go back to a 60hz iPad, in fact the 120hz screen will be one of the main things you notice coming from your older Air 2, the smoothness in scrolling when reading a web page or eBook is just lovely.
- Dual camera with LiDAR - this is one of those “future” things Apple has put in and will probably build on, but it’s great to have a wide angle camera on the iPad to.

Here is a pic of my Air 2 next to my 2020 iPad Pro 11”
