I have come into possession of a sealed MBP 13" which was bought a few days before the upgrade at PC World (UK). I have the receipt for £918 and was wondering where do I stand if I wanted the new model? The current MBP is £999; do you think they'd simply ask for an extra £81?

Ideally, I'd want a refund and I'd buy it from Apple with my educational discount, but that's not going to happen. The MBP was bought with a gift card if that makes any difference, but I wouldn't think it does.

Thanks!

You should be able to return it or as you prefer exchange it for the new model with simply paying the difference.

It is really the only crappy part of the secret launches of new Hardware. Alot of people get stuck buying a product that in 12 hours could be totally replaced.

Luckily, PC World are still selling the model for £918 and haven't lowered their prices on that model so I shouldn't have too many problems getting the same value.

Am I right to assume I'll never be able to walk away with £918 in my pocket rather than in gift cards/store credit?

99.9% of the time a store will never let you get cash value from the Giftcard.
