I honestly don't get why some people feel the need to upgrade EVERY time there is a new iPhone. Every other model is perfectly fine. It's not like the phone automatically becomes useless just because a new one is released. I've always gone for the S models, and it has worked perfectly fine for me. And frankly I've had zero issues with 3D Touch. Not sure if those of you who have simply lack any sort of finesse when it comes to how hard you press, but if it's a problem you can increase the pressure it takes for 3D Touch to activate.

I mainly agree with what you're saying about upgrading, however occasionally you have to get rid of a phone/tablet ASAP because it's not fit for purpose. Like the 6+ for example. That phone was lousy even before the 6S+ came out.

I agree with others that you don't need to upgrade every time a new iPhone comes out.

Personally I've used every new feature quite a bit now, except for live photos. I disabled it as I have no need for them.

Really? In what way? The mrs is still very satisfied with hers, having no issues with it what so ever. Different strokes for different folks I suppose, but it's hardly a lousy phone, objectively speaking.

I upgraded from the 6 to the 6S and I like the latest and greatest so I will do so every year however in terms of upgrade its not been great.

Touch ID is faster so I now use that only 2 generations on as it never worked before.

Yes it did, it was fine on the 5S and 6. 6S is faster though.

3D Touch no need for this.

Yes there is.

12mp and 4K not been on any holidays yet so never required yet.

That's your choice, has nothing to do with the phone itself.

Selfie flash never use this.

Live Photos used a few times but now turned it off as it messes my photos up.

What do you mean?

Most of the S features are good to show off but you never use them much until a few generations later. E.g 4K may be popular once we all have 4K TVs and a larger entry model storage.

You can always record in 1080 if you don't want to use the 4K: there are use cases for 4K even if you want to render out 1080 though, such as being able to zoom in on the video by cropping. How much storage you buy depends on your use case i.e. if you want to record a lot of 4K video you need to buy a larger capacity. Not sure how any of this is a surprise?

The 3D Touch is quite flawed as when you want to delete an app it thinks you are using force touch.

Not if you don't press on the screen and just rest your finger on the icon.

I never use Apple Pay either.

Processor wise the 6 was never that slow and I am sure it's still decent on ios9.

Sure.

I feel this way with most S models. I've read 3D Touch is not poplar with everybody anyway.

So, basically, what you're saying is "I saw all the specs for this phone, realised none of the upgrades were things that I wanted but bought it anyway so I could go and bitch on MacRumors about it". Not the most sensible approach to technology buying.

Folks are always looking for the next ...gate. They crave the drama. TouchIDtoofastgate. Batterygate. Bendgate II. Bendgate I. Antennagate. Emailgate. Benghazigate. NoWMDsgate. 9/11wasaninsidejobgate. Hangingchadgate. Watergate. It'll never end.

Bendgate is real. Antennagate is real. The rest of it is a buncha malarky though. ;)

Not all of the 6 Plus's were lousy. My 6 Plus was a great upgrade from the 5S. It could have stood more RAM but still wasn't a slug either. Only issue I had was the rotation bug every now and then, and the tab refresh if I had more than 3 tabs open in Safari at a time. Other than that, my 6 Plus was a great phone. I put it back in its original Box and will be giving it to my daughter at some point when she's ready to give up her 5S.

I upgraded for the increase in speed and 3D Touch.

I use 3D Touch multiple times, every single time I unlock my iPhone.

Also the 12MP camera is too legit.
