hello. My 7 works fine for me, except for call reception in my house. I have Verizon. Att was just as bad. Anyone know if the newer phones get better basic cell phone call reception?

Seems like no one cares anymore. It’s all about data and WiFi and apps and camera.

Does anyone even care about phone reception anymore? I hear NO marketing for reception quality.

If the newer ones have improved antennas or something like that, then I will buy.

Thanks for any advice.

I tried WiFi calling before. It was glitchy and I recall dropping calls. But, it’s been a while. Will try again! Thanks.
But, still, would love to hear that the newer phones have improved antennas and people have better experiences. It’s such a drag that my phone works everywhere but at my house. Ugh. Yes, it’s probably something in or near my house, but I have no idea what it could be.

Ditto to the apologies since it isn't a direct answer to the question*, I can recommend the following:
[1] Reaching out to your carrier, submitting feedback, and requesting additional coverage via their support lines. Possibly getting neighbors to call in to make it a high volume area.
[2] Researching "Cell Repeaters." They're a bit pricey iirc but should do the job.

* iPhone 7 came with both Intel and Qualcomm modems, hence it's hard to tell. Historically, Qualcomm's have been better. And I believe the 11 comes with an Intel modem, albeit with newer hardware...

I have a similar situation. My wife has a XsMax and I have a 6s+. My 6s+ has significantly better low signal LTE performance. When I am driving and she is navigating it sometimes takes forever for maps to come up on her phone. I might get frustrated and pull my old phone out of my pocket and give to her and maps comes right up on my old phone. We both have the same carrier (Sprint) and the phones are within one foot of each other. A new SIM card helped her phone slightly, but not much.
I am looking to upgrade my 6s+ to last a couple of years until significant new features come out. I do not consider worse low signal LTE performance an upgrade. I am considering the 8+ (for the telephoto lens), The X, XR, or the Xs (again for the telephoto lens). My main concern is LTE performance. I can live with FID and overall form factor of any of those listed.

Of the 8+, X, XR, or Xs, which has the best low signal LTE performance?

Either 8+ or Verizon iPhone X (Qualcomm modem).

The AT&T and T-Mobile iPhone X’s use Intel modems (not good)

I have the same problem with my iPhone 8+ and its 100% the area where my house is located. I went thru three different carriers and phones trying to figure it out. I know you had issues in the past with WiFi calling but that is exactly what has kept me sane and able to make calls.

I live next to a river (behind a levee and down below line of site of the nearby cell towers) this has caused me to have horrible reception. My only other solution is to put a huge cell antenna on my roof to catch local towers signal and repeat that signal into my home. I figured I would just leverage my very nice internet cable connection and wifi setup.

Try it again there have been several improvements since even a couple years ago.
