Well you will be waiting years for it then because they just updated the GPU inside in the 2015 model. The previous one had a Nvidia 750M which was 3 generations behind so it was released at least 3-4 years ago.

I don't understand why people need the last model of macbook even if they had at least a 2012 model.
The 2012 it's more than enough to do everything. Why to waste money on 10% more performance?

Since years it is no more about logical thinking and rational calculation - it is about sort of religion, brainwashing marketing and "Believers" in the holy apple church.
Could you imagine in 2011 that customers would accept purchasing computers with soldered SSDs, even with proprietary connections (apple is the ONLY enterprise worldwide who does no more install disks with international standardized connections, only to prevent 3rd party upgrade and even upgrade with apple parts!), soldered RAM and totally glued batteries????!!!
And proprietary screws to prevent that the customers could even open their OWN computer?

me, I could not - and I still can´t believe it… but this is the reality of brainwashing marketing propaganda....

Hi,

I have the first generation mid 2012 15' rMBP 16GB/750GB which seems a little bit slow now.

I'm looking to upgrade to the latest force touch capable rMBP. The SSD is definitely going to be faster and I can drive 4K external monitor which I currently only partially can. But is there going to be a huge performance difference in terms of CPU/GPU?

Or should I wait for the next gen? I'm planning to do a clean OS install first to see if there's an improvement.

I have that exact model and it's still plenty fast for my needs. Obviously, the tasks for which you use your computer will dictate your needs... I can afford to update for the sake of updating, but I don't see the point.

Having the latest, greatest computer is a lot like speeding away from a stoplight. No matter how fast you drive, there will always be someone in front of you. Same with technology. There will always be something newer, something better, something faster coming along as soon as you make your purchase. It's how life works.

I bought my rMBP 2012 second hand three months ago and I paid the half of price. It is as new !! I work with Logic Pro X and 8Gb of RAM is more than enough for me . I don't see the point of upgrading 3-4 years for now.
