I have 2 PowerMac's.
One 1.25MDD
One 8.67DP MDD

I have one 1.25DP MDD processor card with the heatsink.

I am pretty sure the 1.25 can be upgraded to the DP 1.25
but can the 8.65DP be upgraded by installing the 1.25DP with heatsink?

I am sure this is the place to go to find an answer.
Thank you in advance for any advice you offer.

Tarlach:)

If you have an 8.67ghz G4, you've got something really special. :D

Yeah, I'm trying to figure this out too.

If you mean you have a 1x1.25, you can upgrade it to a DP. There's a guide on XLR8yourmac.com, but it involves putting in the new processor, new heatsink, and scraping a resistor or 2 of the board to change some clock settings.

Thanks, I thought it was something like that.
I'll check out xlr8 for more info.

Hi
The G4/867 DP (MDD) has a 133MHz bus and uses PC2100 DDR memory whilst the higher-end Power Macintosh G4/1.0 DP (MDD) and Power Macintosh G4/1.25 DP (MDD) have faster 167 MHz system buses, and use PC2700 DDR memory, and have better graphics cards as well.

I ended up swapping the 1.25 single for the 1.25 DP..

It is working great so far.

thanks all for your advice.
