Single core score is on the low end, check the memory scores, you could have the multiple memory config problem.

Well the memory performance figures are the same and I see that it says you have 1333mhz memory installed so that should not be your problem.
According to this 24k multi-core score is normal for 2x X5690:

Yet I still wonder what is preventing you from getting 27k on multi-core like the geekbench result that tsialex posted. If you did the firmware update then you should have the patch he was referring to.

Mac Pro 4,1/5,1 life started ten years ago and we had around fifteen firmware upgrades since the first one. At least nine firmware upgrades since 10.13.0 DP5, a little less than two years ago.
Some of these firmwares caused problems, like MP51.0087.B00 and 142.0.0.0.0, but every one of the problems can be corrected with less or more effort.
It's the price to pay to have the last supported Mac that is upgradeable.
I agree Alex and it’s worth it. I already considered to get the new iMac or an iMac Pro but I am happy I met you guys to safe the money

I'm getting a similar single core score as you Paradiseapple and lower multi-core score. This is partially because I am running a pair of 80's instead of 90's and partially because I am still rocking 1066mhz RAM. I am running the above pre-Spectre/Meltdown patch ROM version. Perhaps I should update it if you're saying it will perform better tsialex. I will watch this thread and see where you end up Paradiseapple.

It's not a simple process to understood if you are not following the BootROM thread, but i'll extract the 3rd and 4th streams of the NVRAM and the full LBSN/MLB sector from your BootROM dump. I'll validate both, correct/upgrade if needed, then inject the two streams in the empty NVRAM extracted from 10.14.4 generic BootROM.
Next step is to inject the recreated NVRAM and the original MLB/LBSN sector in the current generic MP51.fd release, 141.0.0.0.0.
After all done, you will have intermediate files to recreate any MP51.fd version, from MP51.007F.B03 to 142.0.0.0.0, tailored for your Mac Pro and a functional BootROM image of 141.0.0.0.0 already injected ready to flash with ROMTool.
Instructions on how to do this will be sent by PM.

I can workaround not having a LBSN/MLB label to validate de dump, but without the dump it's impossible…
When you get the BootROM dump done, read the instructions again, upload in the PM thread.

Hi, I have W3680 and when I remember buying that model at the time, I remember I had some bottlenecks in upgrading vs buying a Mac Pro with 2 CPU's: RAM upgradable to 32GB or something and only being able to upgrade to W3690.
Is that still the case? Is it possible for me to to get X5690 for instance on my motherboard (meaning would it be plug and play or would it require a long process of overhauling my desktop)?

Many on this forum are running dual X5690 and it's entirely possible. I'm running dual X5690 with 128GB RAM.
Not sure what bottleneck you're talking about. There are benchmarks suggesting the machine MAY run more optimally with 96GB RAM instead, but real-world makes difference and personally utilize that additional RAM.
If you have a SINGLE processor tray, you will need to upgrade to a DUAL processor tray that matches your machine's model. 4,1 stays with 4,1 part (SMC 1.39f5) and 5,1 stays with 5,1 part (SMC 1.39f11). Mixing these is a recipe for problems.

X5690 will also work on single cpu motherboard(You can only install one CPU on your single cpu motherboard, unless you replace your CPU Tray.). But this is pointless, because X5690 is more expensive compared with W3690 (same performace).
X5690 increases max RAM (64GB) vs. W3690 (56GB). This was the case a few years ago and assume still is, but have not personally tested a single X5690 with Mojave and BootROM 141.0.0.0.0. Aside from that, they should be fairly comparable.

So I'm guessing that the limit you are thinking of is max 56gb of RAM with the single-processor-capable W5680 Xeon.
