Upgrade iBook G3 700Mhz to 10.4?

I have a friend with an iBook G3, 700MHz with 384MB of RAM. She's currently running 10.2.

Any thoughts on what the optimum OS would be for her? Should she go to 10.4?

Tiger should work, but Panther might perform better.

...and has been said before - but a strip of 512 MB RAM will do wonders when you have it running Tiger.

10.4 is fine on my 700 MHz iBook (but I have 640 mb of RAM). I say install it anyway. If you're unhappy, you can always put 10.2 back on with a clean install.

i just put 10.4 on my ibook 900 and found it to be more snappier than panther

Every new release of OS X Apple seems to make the OS quicker. Tiger performs quicker than Panther.

The 256MB is your problem - that's not near enough to run 10.4 in my experience. I ran it just find on a G3 800MHz with 640MB.
