Other Upgrade iPhone Air to Duo or Pro?

Always been on the upgrade program so kept getting the new phone every year. Last year it was the Air which was the unique phone but this year I’m kinda torn between the new Duo, especially given I sold my iPad mini couple years ago and have been only using iPhone, or go back to a the Pro where I love the burgundy color and potentially later get a new iPad Mini when it’s announced. Anyone else in that confusing boat?

I have the Air and love how thin and light it is, but I’m going to a wedding in Maine at the end of this month and want the cameras in the Pro.

If I weren’t traveling to a scenic place I’ve never been before and/or if the Duo was releasing next week as well, I’d be seriously tempted to get it because I could also retire my iPad mini 6.

But… Cameras.

Yeah I understand your doubts. I went from the 16 Pro to the Air and I am still in love with this device. I miss the Telephoto and Ultrawide, but I can’t go back to the heavy and thick Pro’s anymore. I take photos a lot, but if you check out your actual usage of your phone, the feel in the hand and pocket is what you experience 99% of the time. And the main camera of the Air is really good, for zoom shots I just grab my wife’s phone.

But the Duo…. I have always wanted to try a foldable. But I think the Air really spoiled me. I think the Duo is too thick and heavy. But I love gadgets, so I want to give it a try. Maybe keep the Air and get the Duo and just switch it up?

I think the Duo is a cool phone and meeting the demand that has been there for some on a folding phone is good of Apple to make.
I was always a large phone user with many plus and maxes. Now I have been with my Air for almost the last year and man I do not miss the weight, and the slightly smaller screen has been amazing. Battery sure we all knew it would be a drawback. Cameras aren't that big of a deal nor is the speaker for me.
I am debating going to the 18 pro for battery life only, I think. However, if the Air 2 is going to be a thing the slight bump in that alone will help. It's just all speculation until it isn't. Good thread and can't wait to see what others chime in and say.

I have the Air and love it and will update to the Air 2 when it is available. However I did end up getting a 17Pro a couple of months ago for the better camera. I had a mini12 as a backup phone on a second line, so I just recycled that with Apple and added the Pro. I have no interest in a folding phone, although the Duo is very appealing.
 
I’ve had all the plus and Pro Max models since they released, changed to an Air last year and love it.

For me it is 100% Duo! I understand not everyone will need it, but to have an iPhone and iPad in my pocket is well worth the ~£200 premium over a Pro iPhone + iPad mini. The convenience of both at all times, combined with the clever software and almost creaseless display - take my money!!

….and the opening animation is just 😮‍💨
 
I am using the air + 12 pro
I will be getting the duo, maybe after a hands on though.
Air is a special device that I don’t see myself getting rid of, maybe upgrading to the air 2 if it comes next march.
For the secondary phone the pro makes the most sense due to cameras and lidar but it’s the unique stuff possible with a foldable that makes me lean to the duo.

If you’ve been happy with air compromises, then you should go to the duo. It carries on all that’s good from the air and improves it with better thermals, speakers, cameras.

Get wife 18pro, keep air + duo for yourself.

I love my Air too for the form factor, I also hate the camera!

They mentioned in the Keynote that coming is the ability to own two iPhones with the same number and switching between them is as simple as picking one up.

Hmm - not really wasteful, when you sell your phone to someone else and then they use it. Love getting a new iPhone every year. I barely pay much more money to get a new phone each year too, with military discount and selling my phone outright.

Have the Air and love it - will keep it until Air 2 comes out.

As for the Duo, I am still considering it to replace my Google Pixel Pro Fold that I use for business.

The tax reason to do so is good as I get to write off the lease & cell service expenses each year.

So I am still on the fence!
 
I am going to the Duo from the Air. I like foldables and like iOS and Apples hardware design so it is a good match. Means I can get rid of my iPad Mini as well.
