With a 2017 Air, changing the sleep settings isn't required since the bootrom has the necessary NVMe driver to allow the Air to wake from hibernation without kernel panics.

For 2017, no need to do anything with Catalina 10.15 current latest OS, just get the $2 adapter with the latest firmware 1TB 970 EVO and boot up with Ctrl+C format and install as a normal.

Thats good to know, I have been looking at getting a 2017 to replace my 2012.
