Does anyone know or can guess whether it is possible to manually upgrade a rMBP (2014) with the Force Touch Trackpad of the newest rMBP and MB?
Maybe the batteries make this impossible due to their placement directly under the trackpad..

Even if you could replace the components I think it would be similar to the bluetooth issue, Apple will not show it as selectable as it identifies your model number.

How expensive would the parts be? You might be as well off, or close, selling your 2014 and buying a 2015. And it would just work. ;)

I don't think its feasible or financially viable. I'd sell what you have and then get a new laptop with the force touch trackpad.

Yeah, selling my 2014 and getting the 2015 is an option, but due to the price increase in the last months in europe/germany its not that cheap.
Bought mine new for 1300 euro , the current model costs about 1650 euro

I just cannot see how it would be even remotely economically smart to do so. Sell off your computer and buy the new one. The labor and parts alone are probably worth more than the price difference.
