hey all,

To begin I’ve been enrolled in the upgrade program for over 12 months. I’ve replaced my phone 2x under AppleCare+. I tried to go through the pre-approval process for the X and got an error stating my phone is not enrolled. In contacting Apple they state that is does show up as enrolled in the system and are unsure as to why the website doesn’t recognize it. They stated they will “escalate” the report but don’t think it will be resolved by launch and I will have to setup a new upgrade and have it adjusted in store or buy the phone outright. Anyone else experience this and have a resolution?

That sucks. I think on Friday I would just buy an X and select new upgrade program. I know you wanted to get pre qualified and save some steps. It should still ask you if it is replacing your phone. Say yes and have it ported to your number and do the pre-check with your carrier. Whether you were unsuccessful in doing the upgrade pre work or not, the new phone is still a separate loan/transaction. Your phone should come ported to your number.

Now you have two choices. Bring the old one in and have them take it back and buy you out of your loan. This won't be an issue as you already confirmed they know the deal. Or do what I am going to do, sell my old phone myself for a $200 gain ($500 gross) and pay off my $300 loan myself.

I was successful in doing the pre-work, but I have no obligation to "trade" it in if I choose not to.

Thanks. I may buy one outright to save myself the hassle and if time allows then try to get another on the upgrade. Only issue may be if they limit the amount I can purchase.

Yes, that's exactly what I am saying, just buy it and don't get stuck f'acking around at 3AM.

I’ve had my iPhone replaced twice and I’m on iPhone upgrade, no problems getting preapproved...

I’m sorry it’s not working out for you, but I don’t think it’s the 2x AppleCare swap... have you switched carriers between the last Apple upgrade and this one? Which carrier are you using?

Nothings changed. I’m going to stop by Apple tomorrow and hopefully they can get it sorted. Worst case I have to sell the old phone on my own and buy the new phone.

Thanks guys
