I got this month's notification today from Citizens Bank about my iPhone loan. I will make my 12th payment on August 13th and I was a day one purchaser of the iPhone 7.

Is there anyone else like me who is concerned about having to pay for a 13th month before the iPhone 8 comes out? If the phone is released after the 13th then can we avoid this payment? Not sure if there is a way to change the payment due dates.

I don't know about the US, but in the UK, if you bought the iPhone 7 on launch day, the first payment would have been in October. So August will only be the 11th payment.

That's what I said. My next payment on August 13th will be the 12th payment. Which means if you and I both have to make a payment in September then it will be extra.

You make your first payment at checkout. When purchasing the iPhone using the upgrade program you immediately pay the tax + first month. So first month payment is September 2016 and 12th month payment is August 2017. Which is why I am concerned that if the new iPhone cannot be preordered until AFTER my September due date then I will be paying an extra month. Am I not explaining this correctly? Please correct me if I am wrong.

What the Apple employee told me last year when I was getting my iPhone 7 Plus. If you make more than 12 payments the 13th payment will go towards the new device when you upgrade to the new is iPhone this year.

ohk that makes sense now but i think they will take care of that and as the post above me said it might be used towards the new device or may be they refund it or something like that

In a thread from last year it was noted that they just give you a credit back to your card if you upgrade within 30 days of the 13th payment.

Perfect! Thank you for the response. I assumed someone would have a definitive answer to my question since this is the second year people will be updating. This will be my first time. I got into the program last year with the 7 launch.

Somewhat relevant question: How easy is it for us on the program to get a presale phone through apple on launch day? Or do we have to bring the phone in first? How does it work?

When I got the 7 Plus I was on the IUP with a 6S Plus. I remember picking the the phone I wanted online and it told me I had to pay the remaining balance in the store before upgrading. It was easy, I hope
    this year would be easy.

"Picking the phone online" Are you saying all colors for both the 7 and the 7 plus were pre-reserved for you to choose? That doesnt make sense..

Choose the model, color and capacity then the phone was shipped to my local Apple Store. Then I paid the 2 months of 6S Plus in order to upgrade I also paid the the first month and tax of the 7 Plus.
