First of all, thanks for your help.
I plan on upgrading my late 2010 MB to a MPB in the next few years but I had a question that will greatly effect my decision to change.

I know apple does some things with transferring your files when you buy a new computer, but will they also transfer my installations?

For example, I borrowed a friend's copy of Office '11 Mac. I can't borrow it again, but when I upgrade computers will this installation go with it?

Thanks.

Welcome to the MacBook Pro club! (BTW, its MBP, not MPB :D )

If you really want all of your old files and installations, use a program like Carbon Copy Cloner to make a copy of your current Mac's HDD onto an external HDD. Then transfer everything back onto the new Mac.

But just a piece of advice: its always a good idea to start out with a clean install. Simply take documents and back them up. It's always nice to have new mac with a new installation of Lion. Feels cleaner. Good luck!
