iPhone upgrade question

So i'm running ios 6.1.2 on a iphone 5. I have the latest version of iTunes.

Is it possible to download the ios 7.1 firmware from a third party site and upgrade my iphone from DFU mode to install ios 7.1 and avoid ios 7.1.1?

Impossible. Any upgrade will lead you to 7.1.1, even downloaded firmware from a third party site, as Apple doesn't sign older iOS versions anymore.

That's true, but I think OP just meant iOS 7.0.x lol. Anyway it's not possible so he's out of luck for upgrading without losing the JB.

The op does have an iPhone 4, which can be jailbroken on 7.1-7.1.1. Maybe that's what he's talking about.
