It should fit hard on what I have seen here:

I have an early 2014 model 1466 Macbook air 6.2
1.4 GHz Core i5 / 8GB RAM and 256 SSD / currently running OSX10.9.5 Mavericks?
I have been following various threads over the past few months in hopes of finding a larger SSD that I can swap in myself. I don't need a souped up processor or care to downgrade battery consumption - my fan barely goes on at all now. No gaming, etc.
I have read some descriptions of various swaps of other SSDs:

Although this one looks like it will work, it costs about what my computer is worth.

I may incapable of performing the tweaks to get one of these “outsider” configurations to work, although have been inside iphones (4S & 5 battery replacement) and earlier macbookpro (replace HD), but am willing to try a proven path that has worked with my model and year.
Now reading about this OWC 480GB which seems like a reasonable route, I am reminded of others posts recommending against OWC SSDs in terms of their reliability. Is this still the case?
Although I am happy with Mavericks and don’t really want to have to upgrade other apps as a result of moving up to Sierra or HS, I will do that if there is no other option. Most of what I've read requires HS.
So, I’m looking for a solution to going to a larger SSD preferably around 500GB without spending a ton of money. If I have to go to a insertable card, I'll do that, but would really like a larger internal SSD.
To Gilles, Audit and others who have taken on this task for the rest of us, I thank you.
