Upgrade to 13.2 - stuck on progress bar - help!

after asking for the upgrade upon startup I am stuck the the black Apple screen with logo and a progress bar at about 50%

what do I do?

Its been about 40 minutes, there is no noise from the Mac to suggest anything is working?

please help!
