I just bought an ipod touch from Apple. Next week they will be upgrading to OS 3.0. Do I have to pay the $9.95 fee even though mine is less than a week older?

since its within two weeks, you can just go return it, and they will give you the upgraded one for free.

God forbid...

That 3.0 be as HORRIBLE as 2.0 was at the onset, you can always buy it, complain about your purchase, and apple will refund you the 10 dollars while you keep 3.0 and all of its glorious features and upgrades afterwards.

Apple customer service is VERY cooperative and it's rare that they won't refund your money it you ***** enough about it.

That being said... It's just ten dollars ._. its not as bad as the 20 users were made to pay for an atrocious 2.0.

*edit- 2.0 wasn't 20 bucks, that was the January update. Thanks bndoarn!

2.0 was $10. it was the January Software Package for iPod Touch 1G (the one that included Notes, Mail, Weather, Stocks, and Maps) that was $20

In what way exactly, will we be able to upgrade to 3.0? Will it just happen through the iPod Synch panel? Or through the App Store? Or what?

[edit] Oops! never mind, I just found the answer. Sorry.

WHOOPS ^^' completely forgot, I knew it was something that was from a while back... (thanks for the correction) Regardless, it's still a valid point that for 10 dollars, you're getting much more than what you got for 20 dollars, as you could use safari for all those thing, sans maps probably.

OK, I have no qualms with the $10 - I consider the last upgrade *well* worth it ... just wondering if anyone knows what will / won't be in the update and whether or not it looks like a good choice?

here's apple's list of what's in there and here's a list of some stuff they didn't announce but it's in there. i have the 3.0 Gm on my iPod touch 1G and in my opinion it's only worth about $5 if that IMO. definitely not $10. but 2.0 was worth about $20 IMO.
