Upgrade to 45nm in the Air?

    The CPU is soldered onto the board. There are tons of pictures floating around this one shows the extra thermal paste on the CPU.

    No clue what this means for an update.

    It means that the Air can be upgraded (as a model) whenever Apple chooses, as the new chips are compatible with the current board design. However, unless you are an extremely skilled computer engineer, you will not be able to upgrade an Air that you currently own to a new processor. As already said, it's soldered on to the board.
