First off, hello I'm new to the forums! Currently have an iPhone 4 with AT&T and no longer under contract since mid last year. I am looking to upgrade to a 5s, however I don't want to be under contract and looking to buy a refurbished at a cheaper price, but I'm having a hard time finding one. Anyone have any suggestions?

TIA!

Hi and welcome!

You will notice a major improvement over the iphone 4. A place I have had a lot of luck buying second-hand phones from is swappa.com. I would also check out amazon. If it boils down to saving $100, I would just buy the phone new.

Sometimes bestbuy or even carriers will sell the phone cheaper than the apple store. For example, I bought my phone outright at t-mobile for $600, which is $50 cheaper than the apple store.

Okay, thanks! I will look into that.

Oh and another question. If I purchase a 5s elsewhere, is it as easy as swapping the SIM card?

You'll need a new SIM card. The 5s uses a nano sim, while the 4 uses a Micro sim. You'll simply need to go to the AT&T store to get a new SIM.
