Upgrade to dual cpu from single cpu tray for 2012 Mac pro

Hi,does it matter if I can purchase 2010 dual cpu tray to replace my 2012 Mac pro single CPUs tray or does it have to be 2012 dual cpu tray?

I have a 2012 dual cpu mac pro, the SMC version on the main board, and cpu tray is 1.39f11. A friend of mine has a single cpu 2010 mac pro, and his has the exact same SMC version. I'm 99% sure the 2010 and 2012 trays are interchangable.
