Hi,

I have iPhone 3GS, currently iOS 4.3.3 (jail broken). I am trying to upgrade firmware to iOS 5.1.

I am trying to do so with redsnow. While querying cydia, it looks there SHSH blob for 5.1, 5.0.1.

When I tried to restore iOS 5.1 using iTunes (plug phone go iTunes and in device, press option + restore). It says "the device isn't eligible for requested build". Looking google, every one suggested to remove DNS (/etc/hosts) entry for gs.apple.com. I don't vave that. But still fails.

Any suggestion. Thanks in advance

to restore to 5.1 or 5.01 you need to do it by either stitching the available SHSH manually to the IPSW or use redsn0w to do it for you.

for 5.1 there is no untethered JB, use 5.01

Download 5.01 IPSW
download redsn0w

go to Extras/even more/restore

select donwloaded IPSW
select remote blobs and follow instructions

if you need to preserve BB to unlock redsn0w will ask if you want to preserve the BB.

afterwards use redsn0w to jailbreak
