Yes. DO NOT upgrade. I did and it was a mistake. 8.1.1 is supposed to fix it. Wait until then to see.

This. Even my 5(Which is twice as fast as the 4S) is starting to noticeably slow down.
If I had a 4S I would totally stick with iOS7 for the rest of the phone's life.

I upgraded prior to a trans-pacific flight and the phone heated up mid way and ran out of juice around 5 hours in.
i was stuck for the remaining 10 hours of the flight without an ipod/podcast machine.
pissed me off enough to buy the 6 as soon as i landed on the other side.
i guess apple wins.

Welcome to Apple, their new OS X and iOS just slow down older devices, forcing them to upgrade earlier.
