My understanding is if I buy a new mac now, it will come with Lion installed, and a code to get a free upgrade to ML when that is released. If I don't buy a new mac, and just upgrade my old one, the one price I pay will let me upgrade all the macs I own (just like the upgrade to Lion did). So my question is, if I buy a new mac now, will its inclusive free upgrade to ML only apply to it, or will it let me upgrade my old mac to ML too?

This is apples official website: http://www.apple.com/osx/uptodate/

I think you should be able to install on all your macs, i think your getting a code to get lion for free from the app store, so there is nothing stopping you installing it on all macs. You can try to download lion on all macs once you redeem the code, if it does not allow you to downlod lion to all your macs you can copy the downloaded copy to a usb and copy lion between all macs.
