My wife's 2010 imac is a candidate for the Sierra upgrade but have heard rumors that sometimes photo files have been lost in the process. Any truth to this? Or just a "rumor".
Thanks, Mike

Well it's not something I've heard about or experienced, and I've gone through 2 Sierra updates on my own machines, and 5 for other people. I can't say it's never happened to anyone, but in 7 out of my 7 experiences, no problemos

Ignore all you hear from PC fanboys. I am sure users who are more into Photos will pop in with their advice. Like any upgrade, or even updates, there are three golden rules. Back Up BACK UP. BACK UP!!!

Also before you do anything consider popping an SSD in and make sure you have at least 8GB of memory.

What OS is on the iMac right now?
Is it still running "well enough"....?
