I'm renewing my plan as well. I can go towards paying full retail or $299. I like my money. It's going to be worth it on my wallet as I have not switch carriers for almost a decade.

Why? I am locked down to my Unlimited Data Plan and I want to keep it for as long as possible.

Who here is purchasing the new iPhones via an upgrade and who is dropping full retail to get it?

Thousands and thousands are doing each, and some even both.

Don't forget those going with a monthly payment plan vs an upgrade. The term upgrade is totally over-used anyways. It should say... paying for a new phone in installments. You pay about the same as paying all in one shot.

Full retail because we use the T-Mobile prepaid $30/month for 5GB data, 100 min phone, and unlimited text plans.

Using T-Mobile EIP. I used to pay full retail but there's no point anymore when the carrier financing is 0 interest.

With a lot of Verizon's plans, you're actually paying about $250 over retail if you "upgrade."

Full price. I'm on a shared plan and my line is about $10 a month after discounts, not including data. My contract is up in August 2016, and I don't want another two year agreement. I was also told paying full price with US Cellular will wave the $40 activation fee. And I figure if I want to upgrade at full price next year, selling my 6S will cover a good chunk of the costs.. unlike my 5C, which I'll be lucky to get $150 for.
