Been thinking about this move for awhile. I was debating with myself when the 13’s were released on which size, and I had been happy with the 13 Pro for awhile. I came from an 11 Pro, skipped the 12 pro, and the screen size was fine.

Lately, projects I’ve been working on, and time away from the charger for the last month and a half started me wondering if I made the wrong choice. Been getting a lot of emails with agreements, documents, and attachments, and the screen size has been prohibitive. Been in bad coverage areas which have been draining my battery faster.
So last night I pulled the trigger and ordered the 1TB Max in graphite for curbside pickup today. Great process if anyone hasn’t tried it. No waiting, there’s a link to let them know you arrived. Within minutes, they come out with the bag. I have a large music collection that I keep on the phone, was really happy when they offered that option.

I’m really glad I did it so far. I’m working on construction projects, getting plans emailed, and contracts with small lettering, having to zoom in and move it left and right was getting annoying. Received one today on this phone, and a much easier reading experience. I was also impressed at the balance. For some reason I was expecting it to be heavier. It’s not that much heavier than the Pro to give me any hand fatigue. I have larger hands, also not having issues with reaching the top of the screen with my thumb. I’m wishing I chose the max from the start.

Reading that you do construction and view details like that does mean you will get value out of a Max.

However, one curiosity I have is, why not an iPad Mini instead? Bigger screen for perfect viewing, also no need to worry about data as you can either get the Wi-Fi one and use Hotspot or get the cellular one.

I use an iPad Pro 11” when stationary and when planning, but it’s not always convenient to hold it, and not a good idea in rainy situations.

The max gives me enough portability and versatility with everything on demand on the fly throughout the day. The pro wasn’t terrible, I just found it more inconvenient lately then I realized. I had a perception that the Max was much bigger and heavier than it actually is. When I’ve looked at them at a store, they are typically attached to a security device or wire, so I was never getting an ideal feel for it.

This is part of why I love the Apple ecosystem. My watch is perfect for quick non intrusive notifications, fitness tracking, and when it’s not ideal to grab the phone. The phone is perfect for my primary everyday use, I use it often. My iPad is the perfect portable computer for planning, and basic computing and personal use, movies, reading, writing, etc. my MacBook is good for my video editing and more power use.

Finally someone who truly understands what each device is meant to do.

Also, I understand your iPad Pro predicament. Now it makes sense.

I read all the time about Apple moving backwards. I love the Jony Ive designs, I think he had done so many things right, BUT, at the expense of design over function.

To me, the latest devices and services are getting it so right. I’m ok with a little thicker and heavier resulting in the ability to go truly all day. I’m looking forward to experiencing incredible battery life. I’ve already gotten a couple revised drawings and it’s reaffirming my decision here. But the eco system, everything working so well together.

I didn’t mind the thicker MacBook Pro with the M1, never gets above warm, and battery life and performance has blown away any Macbook pro I’ve owned. I wish they would change up the design of the Apple Watch, but I’ve also enjoyed great performance out of that.

I’m curious what they will pull off with the iPad next. If they really do allow the full MacOS on it with a keyboard as I’ve read, they will have reached perfection across the board for my uses.

I don't mind the same thing. Just don't let it go as thick as phones used to go. I mean, it's Apple and form must be kept to a degree.

They are showing we can get form and function.

This is what is impressing me, off the charger since around 10:30 this morning, it’s 9 hours later with heavy use, emails, texts, phone calls, synching with some smart devices and I’m at 73%, and that’s before the battery is conditioned! I’m tempted to leave it off the charger tonight to see how far I could go through tomorrow.

I also recently caved and bought a 13 pro max. I was using an X, and I have an 11 provided by my workplace. I love the pro max, and now the 11 feels small. I can’t quite figure it out, but I swore off big phones when the 6 plus didn’t fit in my pocket, but the 13 fits just fine (maybe my pockets are bigger?). I haven’t touched my iPad Pro 12.9/11/mini since I got the 13, and I only occasionally use my laptop. I finally came to the conclusion that if I can’t carry a device with me in my pocket, I just don’t use it. I’ve paired the pro max with a portable keyboard, mouse, and Apple TV/portable monitor, and I’ve got a nice desktop setup for when I am home. My only wish is that Apple would open up more multitasking options for iOS. In any case, the 13PM is an awesome device!

I’ve always used belt clips with my phones. Always been afraid of breaking or scratching the phone in my pockets. Sounds like you are getting great use. The battery life is continually blowing me away. Been using it heavy and haven’t even hit 50% battery use at the end of the day.

I used to do the belt clip as well. I always have a thin case, along with a non-glass screen protector. Screen is always turned towards me in my pocket, and nothing else goes in there. No scratches! Battery life is certainly better than any other phone I have owned. Cheers my pro max brother!

I never went back down once I started on the 6 Plus. It’s been the largest size even since.

I don’t feel like carrying an iPad or laptop on trips. The 6.7 inch screen is good enough when on the go.

yes I also went from 13 Pro to Max due to work, and much better despite the weight! The battery is insane for air travel! I also got a smaller phone for days/weekends I don't work and hike around... good combo! They mirror each other...

I tend to get some more urgent work stuff triaged on my iPhone if I'm out and about, and the Plus/Max sizes have been so great for that, especially if something needs a quick signature. The entire year I had the iPhone X, I was longing for a bigger model for that very reason. I'd still rather have an iPad/Mac for work tasks, sure, but the best computer is the one you have with you, and the one I have with me the most often is the iPhone. 13 Pro Max has been amazing because I can do anything I want on it during the day and know that it won't be dead before I get home.

Good move! I just updated my 13 pro max graphite to alpine green. I only had it since February 17 and since then, the battery was dropping. 98% for two months of use. Anyway, I like the new green.

I’ve flip flopped between the plus/max sizes since the 6 Plus. I don’t know if it’s the flat edges, or the fact that the the 13 Pro was bigger than the 11 Pro, so the jump wasn’t as big a deal, but I haven’t second guessed this decision at all. I’m at 13 hours off the charger right now with normal use today. The Pro would be around 50% with this use, I’m at 87% on this phone. I’ve never fully appreciated battery life on a phone like I am this one.

The screen size has been excellent, exactly what I was hoping for. I have been happier with this phone than I’ve been for a long time. I always appreciate the 14 days so I could know I was definitely getting what I wanted, looks like I’ll be adding the AppleCare and putting the Pro up.
