I just upgraded a few days ago from HS to Mojave. I have a mid 2012 macbook pro (not retina). I haven't done it because I've read some bad reviews and how things have gone bad for some people. but I decided to just do it because my laptop has been acting up. Not wanting to start up correctly after sleeping. And other little things which was telling me either my computer is starting to fail OR I need to upgrade. I tried everything else. Well.... I love it. Everything is much faster. So far no problems getting started after sleeping, that seems to have resolved. I don't know if my computer can handle or will support another upgrade (probably not) but this should get me by for a while - I hope. I love how the background changes color depending on time of day. Just wanted to post a good review on my older macbook pro going to Mojave.

I’ve been running Mojave for quite sometime on my mid-2012 Retina (base model but with 16GB RAM) and there’s very little difference in term of performance and responsiveness from High Sierra for the UI and in most applications.

But because my main use for the rMBP is Adobe CC (Illustrator and Photoshop), I did find that Mojave affected some basic functions like copying and pasting (but with) higher dpi vector either from within illustrator or to Ps. Perhaps there’s actually additional overhead to Mojave that ultimately affects cpu intensive apps (and make them less predictable).

I’ve since switched to a newer (2018) MBP (also 15”- base model) and all the issues simply went away but with my old rMBP, I wiped and reinstalled Mojave and gave it to my partner (his previous was an 11” Air). For what he uses it for- browsing, watch videos, writing/email and editing photos in Photos- it operates and feels exactly like what a new laptop should- fast and responsive. Which is still an amazing feat for a 7 year old laptop.
