Coming from an XS Max, and Samsung s10 before that - My 13 Pro Max is perfect in every way hardware related, and I couldn’t be happier with the upgrade.

Battery, Display, Speed, Wifi improvements, 5G, Ecosystem, Sound, Call Quality, System stability, IOS15, MagSafe Compatibility - absolutely awesome, and SUCH an improvement over the XS Max, I’m sooo glad I upgraded

I still can’t believe that they haven’t natively given us the ability to schedule a text.

I’m a very early riser and often get all of my replies etc done first thing in the morning and this is the one thing that still has me pining for my old Samsung s10 (well, this and fully live wallpaper).

Aside from those 2 things (which are both software related) - my 13 PM is the perfect phone 🙌

As a sloppy workaround, compose all your messages in Notes beforehand then send them off one after the other later on. It’s pretty fast doing it that way.

Great idea, and I’ll use that in the interim - thank you 🙏

The only thing is it still sits in the brain as you still have to send it at a later time, instead of being able to tick it off as done.

working FT (essentially working 2 roles), 4 kids (well 2, a husband and a dog 🤣), running a household - I have sooooo much on the brain!! It’s the simple things like scheduling a message which would really make a difference

Apple, are you listening?!? 🙇‍♀💁‍♀️

Looks like you can use shortcuts to schedule iMessages:

I am curious but what kind of message reply would require scheduling?
I wake up at 4am-5am every morning and am very much a morning person. Bright eyes and bushy tailed, and ready to roll. It’s mentally the optimal time of day for me to get things done. I also utilise my phone for both work and personal use

Day moves on, I get busy with other stuff and forget to respond.I get messages late at night (both National and international) and clearly can’t text anyone nationally at that time of the morning. If I could start knocking off some of my work texts by scheduling them, it would be awesome

Also, with my s10 - it’s as simple as being able to schedule a happy birthday text message months And a year in advance if I wanted to (and I used this feature all the time)

So the problem is that you feel you can’t text people in other time zones because you feel you may inconvenience them? Then, you need to schedule happy birthday messages for people that aren’t important enough to you for you to remember their birthdays?
It sounds like you are looking for a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. Respond to texts when you wake up. No one cares what time you respond. Schedule reminders in calendar for birthdays. Done.

The problem is moreso I can’t text people nationally (in the same country) and that I use my phone for work including needing to respond to a lot of text messages. I can’t send work text messages to internal or external work people or any family/friends at 4am or 5am.

The problem is also that managing everything I do in life, working, kids, events and activities, using including living in a different Timezone from my family - there is a lot in life to manage and remember, and if I can schedule things to make it easier, and to “tick it off” my to do list, why not? Why have to set the reminder and then execute when the reminder goes off, instead of just executing the task in the first place?

I’ve used the scheduling feature on my s10 ages ago and it was highly beneficial feature which I used a lot which I’ve been missing in IOS ever since I moved back.

I’ve stated in my original post that my 13 Pro Max is perfect hardware wise. I’m not knocking the iPhone - it bugs me that people get so defensive about it, and because Apple doesn’t do it, it’s not a problem

Consider the following temp workarounds.

1) You could set up certain focuses on your phone that inform the people contacting you while the phone is in a focus, that you are in fact in a focus.

2) In addition to suggestion 1, you could possibly set up auto-replies to texts and or emails. That way, people know you got the text or email and that you will respond in the morning your time. You can set up auto-replies for mail during set hours as well. You would have to create mail rules for whatever accounts are involved.

3) You could set up a daily morning, afternoon, and evening reminder to check your replies to incoming texts and email.

I totally get what you’re saying. I have the same need, and I actually designed an app to do this along with other unique functions — but I realized that nobody would use it — so instead I’m just hoping Apple will incorporate this into iMessage.

While helpful, it’s still not a native app. It either sets a reminder so you can send a message, or you have to leave the app running in the background

Then the Shortcuts automation script is what you want to use as shown in the video.

These workarounds are fine, but I believe the OP wants this functionality contained within the iMessage app. This makes total sense to me, and I can’t imagine that it would be a big deal to implement (though I’m not an engineer).

I just tried it by sending myself a message, went through. I have seen that error when I was trying to create a automation for something else. Eventually, I got the automation to work.

I couldn’t get it to work, I’ve deleted it from my phone

Exactly right, thank you 🙌
