I'm upgrading for the Plus (have the standard 6 now), Camera, more RAM, in that order. I do think 3D touch will be appreciated more once we start using it.

I'm willing to bet when people start using 3D touch they'll wonder how they managed without it. I'm ridiculously excited about 3D Touch, 2GB RAM (PLEASE!), and faster processor speed. The rest holds no interest for me. The 6 Plus has just gotten much, much slower in iOS 9, so I'm happy to upgrade (Thanks, Apple!).

Check out this what-appears-to-be real-time video 3D Touch from Apple. So much win..

unlike those who don't know any better, I realise that pushing the pixel count too far in a small sensor can actually reduce image quality).

It is unlikely that Apple will release the new camera and allow the picture quality to degrade. So even if the quality of the pictures remained the same the 12 megapixels is a great addition.

Only the PLUS has the Optical Stabilization. The 6S Plus has activated OS for Video as well. The 6 Plus only had OS for photos, in low light.

Sweet. I wasn't aware of this before (OIS for video). Awesome. :)

Are you sure OIS works in video? We had this discussion last year and the phone had video stabilization, but that's done in software, not hardware. We thought video would have OIS but we turned out wrong.

The camera was part of the reason why I'm upgrading although I am perfectly happy with the camera on my 6 plus. The 3D touch is also part of the reason. I was very skeptical about it before the keynote as I wasn't convinced that it was any different from a long press but I was impressed by what I've seen so far (haven't managed to watch the whole keynote yet!).

have to admit that i opted for the + based on the fact that it has a better camera.

The OIS on the 6s plus is more like a placebo effect. People think their pictures are superior just because they know it has OIS. In reality I bet they can't really tell the difference in a blind test.

Doubt it. I am a keen photographer and understand this is a little more detail. OIS is going to be favoured more in low light conditions.

When light is limited, the shutter speed needs to be slow so that it captures as much light as it can. During shutter movement, any shake in the camera will be displayed as a blur in a photo. OIS will assist in keeping the camera still during shutter movement, hence giving a sharper image.

To explain this further, consider hand drawing a straight line with a pen. it is a lot easier to draw a small line perfectly straight, free hand than it is drawing a larger one. In this analogy, your hand and the pen are the camera lens and sensor and OIS would be a ruler!

Not really sure if I'm upgrading or downgrading.. Going from a 6 Plus to a 6S. Got tired of using a 5.5" phone and wanted to give the 4.7" a go..
your fingers will thank you. I switched from a Plus to a regular 6 and it felt like such a relief.

Am I the only one who upgraded due to the camera? Upgraded from a iphone 6 plus. All the other features (3d touch) are somewhat gimmicky to me. I'm too excited for the 5mp front camera with screen flash! And 4k recording? Heck yes!

Camera and 3DTouch for me. I use my 6Pplus one handed a lot so I'm looking forward to the extra interactions that should save my thumb from having to reach for the back button as much.

According to Apple's own technical specification page for the 6S/6S Plus, it does now, yes. :)

This is why I always go with the s upgrades. They always improve the camera.

Not always. The 5s' camera wasn't much improved over the 5's and the 3GS' camera was no where near as big of a change as the iPhone 4's.

Yup, seeing this now. Very interested to see how well it works compared to the software stabilization.

I think you're looking at Auto Image Stabilization. Not the same thing.

From Apple's web site:

Optical image stabilization (iPhone 6s Plus only)

Not always. The 5s' camera wasn't much improved over the 5's and the 3GS' camera was no where near as big of a change as the iPhone 4's.

The 5s had a bigger aperture at f/2.2
15% bigger sensor
Bigger pixel size at 1.5µm
True tone
Burst shots
Slow-mo
Exposure changes for panorama

It's quite an improvement over the 5
