You've got SATA 3 6Gb/s. Any SSD will work fine, though I'd recommend sticking to well known brands such as SanDisk, Samsung, or Crucial.

Just for your future reference, a SATA 3 SSD would work fine on a SATA 2 connection anyway. It'll just run at SATA 2 speeds (3Gb/s).

For RAM, your machine supports up to 16GB. 2x8GB DDR3 1600MHz SODIMM. Again stick with well known brands like Crucial or Kingston.

You'll benefit from SATA 3. But almost every SSD on the market today is SATA 3 anyway. Any SATA II ones you'll find will be legacy/EOL stock that aren't worth purchasing anyway.

So just throw in an SSD of your choice and she'll be a brand new machine.
