I want to make sure I have everything right before I jump into this. The DVD burner is shot and so I have to replace it. I decided on doing this myself and save the $80 an hour charge at a local store.

Here is the DVD burner I was planning on putting in:

Is this compatible with the imac I have? Also, I here I have to get Patchburner or something to use it with iLife since i'm on 10.3 (I plan on upgrading to 10.5 later).

Then I am also going to upgrade the standard 2x256 memory. I figured I'd be good to change the inside dimm ram to 1gb totalling 1.25g of ram.

Now I hear it's really important to reapply thermal paste. I was going to order the Arctic Silver 5. Is there anything I need to worry about when applying this?

I'm going off a few picture tutorials I've found online.

I've never done this sort of thing, but I'm guessing it shouldn't be a problem as long as I just go through it carefully. Do I have everything I need? Has anyone else done this sort of thing maybe and have any pointers? Thanks

Anyone??? Also, Whats the best way to remove thermal paste? Does it just come off or do you have to do something to get it off or even keep it on and apply over the top?
