MP 1,1-5,1 Upgrading 2012 cMP to Wifi 802.11 ac ?

I still have my classic Mac Pro from 2012 and next month BT are upgrading me to fibre-optic and I am going with a half gig Pkg - do you think it’s worth trying to upgrade my classic Mac Pro to Wifi 802.11 ac ? Would it make that much difference on the Wi-Fi from its standard card or best to use a Ethernet cable or home plug ? Ta

Yes, use the wifi upgrade - you get other benefits like air drop and on newer Monterey versions even universal control.

It just makes the old Mac Pro seem a bit less old and those features are convenient. Both of my 5,1 machines have the same upgraded wifi and Bluetooth.

Just be careful connecting the antenna cables.

IMO, Ethernet is always easier and more reliable. If you don't need AirDrop / Handsoff, and you can use Ethernet, then better to just use Ethernet.

I have the wifi ac card, but I am still using Ethernet. I won't move my desktop anyway.

Which cards did you purchase? I’m in the market to get a new Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module for my Mac Pro…

I did the OCLP/Monterey install and my Wi-Fi networks show up, but I can’t enter any passwords to actually connect…thinking a new card is required??
