Upgrading a 21.5" iMac

I have the 21.5" 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac, and it's only a couple of weeks old, however, I wanted to know what the 'upgrade' possibilities are. Is it possible to upgrade this at some point in the future to a new i5 or i7 processor or is that not possible because of the size?

What other upgrade possibilities are there with these machines? 😎

RAM is the only easy thing to upgrade. HD can be upgraded but it's not very easy. You can't use Core ix as they use different socket (LGA 1156). People have tested Core 2 Quads as well but they don't seem to work.

Well that sucks a little... I don't want a HUGE screen in my office, but would like to upgrade later on... Maybe I'll just sell and upgrade in a couple of years instead, unless they make a more compatible upgrade

You might have asked this question three weeks ago. 🙂 People don't buy iMacs for their physical expandability. If you want significant performance improvements every couple of years you'll have to but a new iMac or spring for a Mac Pro.
