I am considering upgrading my iphone texting plan. Currently I have used 188 of 200 messages, yet still have 10 days left in the month.

I remember doing this with my calling plan when I was with verizon, and I paid through the nose . . . they said because I changed 1/2 way through the month, I was only allowed 1/2 of my original (lower) minutes, plus 1/2 of my new plan (higher minutes). Therefore, I was actually penalized for switching plans when I did!

Will AT&T pull this BS?

Similar question on ipad:

If I get the 250MB plan, but after several days it is clear I need the 2GB plan, will they prorate that like I explained above? Also, will they charge me $25 mid month for the 2GB or will they charge me $10 for upgrading from the $15 250MB to the $25 2GB.

Thanks!

We did that a while ago. Upgraded from 200 texts to unlimited family. What ended up happening is that we got our unlimited messages, but everything we sent before that was counted against us. So expect $18.80 in overusage charges.

You are better off just leaving the plan how it is and upgrading next cycle.

He didn't use more messages than he was alotted. He should get no overage charges. If he used 388 out of 200 he would have an 18.80 charge, but he was well within his 200 limit. He shouldn't be charged anything. The plan updates are immediate.

That is how it should be, but the system was consider everything on the 200 message plan as overusage after you upgrade/switch plans.

Hmm, alright. Any help with upgrading data on iPad? Will I be charged $10 or $25?
