Upgrading from 3.1.2 to 4.0.1

Hi I everyone I have a 3.1.2 iPhone 3GS that has been jail broken and SHSH blobs saved via cydia.

My question is will I be able to just do a simple shift+update through itunes 10, to update to 4.0.1? or will I have to change host files ect... I'm new to this thanks in advance!

Yes, u will have to edit your hosts first.
Then restore to official 4.0.1, once done kick the device out of recovery with tinyumbrella and jb with jailbreakme.com

You dont have to.
You can just do a regural restore thru itunes.
