Do you think it's worth making the upgrade? Will there be a significant performance boost? Or is it better to wait for next year's revamp and the transition to 2nm?

Given that no announcements have been made regarding M5 Pro/Max models, there's no way to answer that question at this time. Personally, I am on an every other generation upgrade cycle, so the next model I will consider upgrading to would be an M6 series. I don't foresee there being enough to convince me to upgrade to M5, and I still haven't pushed my current machine to its absolute breaking point either.

Few questions

1. What are current Specs?
- CPU
- GPU
- RAM

2. What is your current work-flow?
A. Do you notice slow-Down or workflow not doing what it’s supposed to do as fast as you want it to

In full honesty, I don’t see the Max exceeding the 16-core CPU or 40-core GPU. What I will say is that I see are improvements. Apple pushing the GPUs closer to Nvidia’s laptops. I do believe it will take a few more years before Apple
Achieves total GPU level playing field with Nvidia gaming laptops.

Eh, not really. It’s hard to judge since we still don’t have exact specs, but i’m still using mbp m1 just fine so i think m4 max is worth (a lot) keeping.

Macbook pro 16 m4 max 16 cpu 40 gpu 64 GB di RAM. SSD da 2TB

I do very heavy video editing (4k/8k) with neat video dehancer pro (which uses 100% cpu and gpu) and the same with lightroom exports of many files... I always need more speed!

IMO doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I would expect that the time you save with the M5 would be fairly minimal and not worth the money spent.

Wait for M6.

M4 Max to M5 Max doesn't make a lot of sense, particularly if rumors are correct that M6 will be releasing by EOY. Outside of some super-niche areas it doesn't really matter what optimizations M5 has over M4, the machine's not going to pay for itself in time saved vs waiting another 9-10 months and getting the M6. That's assuming you don't also need a general spec bump - if you do, then it'd make sense to go for the M5.

That said, if you have the money and the desire to be on the latest? Have fun and enjoy your new machine!
