I do like my 8+ quite a bit, but it's beginning to run out of memory (I've got a 64 GB with 9 GB left) and I believe the charge port might be slightly damaged as it sometimes disconnects when charging/ using wired earphones.

All the leaks I've been seeing about the 12 has been quite disappointing and doesn't seem to be worth the price (in my opinion).

With that in my mind, the 11 Pro Max has been catching my eye and I noticed Verizon (my carrier) has a pretty good trade-in/upgrade deal right now which will save me about $500 if I trade in my 8+ when upgrading.
Also, not sure if I should be frugal and save the money and stick with the 64 GB model. Money is tight right now, but I do plan to hold the phone for as long as possible so maybe it's worth the additional $? If only 126GB was the base for these.

I keep going back and forth on all of this though, what do you guys think?

I know you mentioned your ‘finances‘ a few times, And I know this isn’t the answer you’re looking for, but maybe you should base your decision if you should upgrade If you actually have the ‘extra’ funds for a smart phone or if there is something you could use your money for other necessities. If your iPhone 8 Plus is ‘doable’ where you can hold off where you have the funds later, maybe consider that as ‘safe Bet.’ Smart phone upgrades aren’t necessary unless your current phone is dire need of upgrading.

Plus, These types of carrier promotions won’t be disappearing anytime soon, not when the next iPhone launch is imminent within the next few months

The charge port on mine is gone too. I’m waiting for the 12 and charge wirelessly until then.

The 12s lineups should offer 128gb base therefore better longevity. Plus I wouldn't be surprised if the price is very close to the 11 Pro range.

@Relentless Power
Yeah, I've been thinking about that as well! I was just worried that the 11 pros would end up getting discontinued or that the promos would end up being solely for a 12 upgrade. Also, a nice perk with iphones is that they tend to hold value very well over time, but the 8 has started dropping in return price so thinking about just biting the bullet now. I can manage the base pro but justify to extra $ for memory just doesn't sit well with me.

@ericwn
Completely out? Yikes, I'm sorry about that! Mine still kinda works on and off
But just like you, I've also been solely using a wireless charger as to not chance it.

It is a rumor, but I read and saw a few pages stating that the battery shrunk on the new 12 models?
Maybe it got more energy-efficient, but it still and overall smaller battery which is another con for me on the 12 models.

Carefully inspect the interior of your 8 Plus charge port with a strong magnifying glass and good lighting.
While the spring tabs can and do occasionally break off inside the port, creating a loose fit for the plug, more times than not there's debris jammed into the back of the port preventing the plug from inserting fully.
Check it out

I actually did try to clean it out, but no change. Honestly, I think it might have been damaged a while back when I sat and broke the headphone jack connecting to the port, it seemed like the port was fine (headphone adapter cracked and no longer worked) but I guess it did damage it.

64 is why you're in the boat you're in now. Being frugal would be deleting some stuff and making due until you can afford a bigger memory phone.

“Cleaning” did nothing for the finicky lightning port on my 8+ (nothing to clean). Fortunately I now charge wirelessly and my Anker charger works just fine.

Still, I’ll be buying an iPhone 12 and keeping this phone as a backup.

Wait, it should only be a few months and your phone works.

I had to upgrade from my X recently as I broke the screen on my X :( Whilst the 11 Pro is tempting, I went for a used XS for about half the price of the 11 Pro as the smaller 12 seems like my dream phone.

Even if the 12 is flawed on release, the 11's will drop in price.
