Upgrading Harddrive Questions?

I currently have a 320gb hard drive in my 20in aluminum iMac. I would like to upgrade it to around 500gb or maybe even 600. What kind of hard drive so i use? Also how should i transfer all my info? I have a 1TB external harddrive. how hard is it to change?

It may void your warranty as you have to disassemble the iMac (the HDD is not considered user-replaceable like RAM is or HDDs on MB/Ps).

Search on youtube for how to videos. I would go for as big a drive as you can afford. You won't want to have to upgrade again and drives are fairly cheap. Good luck.

When I upgraded the hard drive on my iMac, I took out an external enclosure to put the new hard drive in. Then I used Carbon Copy Cloner to copy the entire current hard drive to the new one, and then I replaced the hard drive.
