I needed to reclaim some hdd space on my iMac, so I went to bootcamp assistant, and routinely removed bootcamp. When OSX tried to reclaim that space, it errored out. I ended up having to go with a clean slate back to the original LION is shipped with. All good so far. Then I couldn't update from that to anything. I was on 10.8.x. Finally was able to get it to update to 10.11.6, all good there now. Now I can't get it to update to High Sierra. Only downloads I've been able to get are 10.13.1 and 10.13.6, but it always tells me the download is corrupt.

As usual with me, I haven't been able to figure it out. I would love to advice on this. Maybe a hint, proper download link? I dunno, it doesn't show up on the Mac App store. I know the community is probably getting tired of me needing help, and I do apologize for that. :(

Change the date on your Mac using Terminal:

Set the Mac System Date Manually by Terminal Command

Another approach is to set the date manually from the command line by using the “date” command string, where date is in the [mm][dd]HH]MM[yy] format, which is Month Date Hour Minute Year without any separation. This looks something like:

date 1116211618

By changing it to a 2018 date, High Sierra will install without errors.

Looks like you have been downloading updates and not the OS X.13 operating system. Go to this link and choose OS X.13 and it will take you to the App Store. Download and run or burn to an+8GB thumb drive if you wish to keep a version handy. One you run the Installer it vanish from Applications.

That's exactly what I did to get 10.11.6 on there. Didn't think of changing it to a more recent date lol. I'll check again in a few. I did CMD/OPT/R and Catlina got stupid installed.

You shouldn't need to change the system date if downloading from official Apple sources. Not anymore at least...

You could try updating to 10.12 Sierra first then to 10.13 High Sierra

Tried that the official ways as well. The only ways that have worked so far is going from 10.8 to 10.11.6 via recovery and changing the date in the Terminal. Then using the CMD + OPT + R and choosing Reinstall MacOS from recovery, which installed Catalina.

Tried that already. Keeps telling me that it's not available in the US store.

You definitely won’t be able to download macOS installers in iTunes for Windows. That’s at least why you’re seeing this particular error.

Indeed. You have to use Safari on a Mac to open the link. That'll then take you to the App Store to download the installer.

I swear my brain injury gets the better of me more often than not. Thanks a bunch for pointing me in the right direction.

That goes to everyone. I appreciate the patience and help tremendously.
