Hey all,

Currently running a 2018 Mac Mini 6-core 16GB RAM with 2x4k LG monitors. I’m a digital comms consultant so the mac runs my business: accounts, Teams, Email, heavy excel work but in recent months I’ve taken on a lot of webinar work. This hurts my Mac Mini: fans blast and it gets hot. I’m using Ecamm Live + 2 cameras, multiple scenes, screenshares, green screen and more.

So I’d like to upgrade. I want to invest in something that will comfortably run my 2x4k monitors and my webinar production set up. I’m reasonably comfortable in over-investing now — maybe overspecced — because the nature of my work means I seem always to need more ‘beef’.

I’m looking at high end iMac or low end iMac Pro. Love your views. How does the i9 stack up against, say, the 10 or 14 core iMac Pros? Graphic card insights? I’m of a view that I should pump in as much RAM as budget will allow.

You might get more answers if you post in the Mini section. This is the iMac section.

Probably a moderator can move this over.

2 year old Mac mini + £1000 on an eGPU + £500 on extra RAM to invest to gain another 18months, maybe 2 years? This is the balance: stump up to get the Mac mini over the line, or invest in new. Thanks -- I welcome your inputs.

I waited. Given the Apple Silicon news, I've upgraded my Mac mini and I'll hold the money on an iMac in due course. New 64GB of RAM and an eGPU with 5700tc card on the way. Thanks all.
