Hello everyone,

I'm trying to get some older MacBook Pro devices (one from Early 2011, one from Late 2013) upgraded to the latest possible MacOS X releases they support. The older of the two devices is currently running 10.11 (and is supported up until 10.13), and the other one is running 10.13 (and is supported up until 10.15 as well as 11 - however, it is one of the devices that has issues with bricking with the Big Sur release and I haven't found any clear indication that the issue has been resolved, so I would go for 10.15 for now).

However, my issue for both devices is that I seem to be unable to upgrade the two devices to the latest version of MacOS X. I did find a support page on Apple's web site (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211683), but the App Store links to the older versions of MacOS X do not work - when clicking on them on the Macs, I get the notification that these articles are not available in the App Store. On the older Mac I can therefore not upgrade at all, on the newer one only the upgrade to Big Sur is an option.

I haven't been using Macs myself for a few years so I thought that it would be possible to just download a DMG image and use that for an upgrade, but I understand that it has to go through the App Store now.

Does anyone know why this does not work (according to Apple's support page I assume that it is supposed to work) or if there are other ways to install the upgrades?

Thanks a lot in advance for any hint!

MrMacintosh lists 8 ways of downloading installers. You need to pick one that will work for the two versions of macOS you want. All download from Apple. I recommend option 5 (MDS), but your choice.
