Just decided to pull the trigger on some upgrades for my 1.25ghz powerbook. I'm getting a 1GB stick of crucial ram ($105) from newegg and a 80GB 7200RPM seagate 7200.1 harddrive ($199) from zipzoomfly. This will put me at 1.25GB of ram (from 512MB) and hopefully almost twice as fast for disk speed.

The comp was really starting to feel slow, so I figured this would be the best option seeing as how a brand new powerbook wouldn't be that much of an upgrade at this point.

Anyone do anything similar and have good results?

I just upgraded to a 100 GB 7200 RPM drive, and to 1.5 GB of RAM from 1.0 GB.

For me, the hard drive made the bigest difference, but I remember when I upgraded from 512MB to 1.0 GB, and that made a huge difference too.

You can probably expect it to feel like a completely new machine!
