I have a Late 2008 Unibody 15 inch MacBook Pro, here are the exact specs from System Information:

Hardware Overview:

Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.53 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 6 MB
Memory: 4 GB
Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz
Boot ROM Version: MBP51.007E.B05
SMC Version (system): 1.33f8

I want to upgrade the current 4 GB of RAM to 8 GB, and I'm aware that originally these machines only supported 4 GB officially, and 6 GB in practice. However, not long ago I heard that a firmware update boosted the maximum RAM to 8 GB, but this is not documented officially anywhere, and Apple's site still states 4 GB as the maximum for this machine, and so does Crucial.

Would 8 GB work fine or not? If yes, would you recommend the following?:

http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/lis...3GHz+Intel+Core+2+Duo+(15-inch+DDR3)+Mid-2009

Cheers!

Yes, the RAM will work. The firmware update has probably already been done one your computer through regular old software update.
