Will the apple store upgrade my ram in my imac even though I didn't purchase from them? Also, would I be able to bring my own memory? Is there a set price for this? What about processor upgrades will Apple do those? Thank you in advanced. This is my first mac, and I purchased at an online from an authorized reseller.

ok they will upgrade your ram(yes it doesn't matter where you got it, it came from apple) and no, it isn't possible to upgrade the processor on an imac...at least they won't do it, its probably possible, but i wouldn't dare try.

Upgrade the RAM yourself, its easy. It would save you the wasted time of waiting in like at an Apple store. Do you have one of the aluminum iMacs?

Read the little manual that came with your Apple, adding ram is as easy as falling down.

As mentioned above the booklet that comes with the Mac tells you how to do the upgrade. It's very easy to do.

An Apple store would probably do it, but I would be willing to bet that they would charge for the service.

    Thanks.

Thanks everyone. I think I'll try to upgrade myself then, since you guys are saying it's easy.

Unplug everything from your iMac including the power cord. Slide your mac toward the edge of your desk and tilt the bottom edge forward, remove 1 screw on the ram cover (the screw is captured so it won't fall out on ya), pull out the 2 plastic tabs that release the ram, give the tabs a tug and the ram will slide out, slide in the new ram, tuck away the plastic tabs and reinstall the ram cover. Plug everything back in, power up and verify memory installed via the Apple menu "about this mac". Done.
