I'm trying to install a 250Gig IDE drive into my Powerbook 1.67 but when I try to install OSX the disk can't be seen. When I put the old disk back in it works fine so it looks as though the new HD is not compatible. The disk is a Western Digital WD2500BEVE does anyone know why this might not work and what I should be looking for when buying a new drive?

Thanks,
Will

Put your OS X DVD in the optical drive and restart holding the C key or option key. Go to disk utility and format the new hard drive to journaled hfs+

The disk works, I paid a 3rd party apple authorized center to install it for me this last week, and it's extremely quiet compared with my old toshiba HD.

Good luck with your replacement.
