Upgrading the processor?

It has an Intel "Core 2 Duo", but I really want to upgrade to an i5 (or an i3 at the least.) Anyway of doing this?
 
You can't upgrade the cpu without first getting a motherboard with compatible cpu socket. At which point you might as well buy a new iMac.
 
If the iMac is in good condition, you could consider auctioning it or trading it in and putting the proceeds towards a new iMac.
