Upgrading to 32gig

I'm upgrading to the 32 cause I gave my brother my iPod and 16 won't cut my music memory ha. I was wounding if you had to ballpark how many songs can 32 gigs hold on the iPhone?

depends on what you decode in and how long, etc

I usually get about 200songs per gig

Well let's put this into perspective. Go to settings > general > about and see how many songs you have. Then multiply it by 2. I think that's a fairly decent way to tell since I assume the other media on your phone like contacts and pictures will stay the same.

*edit* i realized you might not have the device anymore. perhaps you remember how many fat on 16gb? (can you use fat like that? lol)

I've maxed out my 32GB 3GS with 3,899 songs at 25.04GB.

Apps / Pictures / Videos eat up the last 4.5 GB as the 32GB model becomes 29.33 after formatting and iOS installation.

Allow iTunes to sync down-convert your music to 128k AAC and you'll have plenty of space.

I have got 1.3 gb space left!

All my tracks are 320kbs. It depends on how serious you are into your audio what bit rate you want your tracks at. If i downsized to 192 or 128 i could get a lot more but at the cost of audio quality which i wont do!!

320 is overkill for what the human ear can hear. I go for V0 variable.

With iCloud and paying for $25 per year...storage on the iphone isn't going to matter anymore for for music (assuming you are around wifi/cellular data).

It doesn't sound as great as it could, yes, but it certainly doesn't sound 'terrible', unless you're a true audiophile (but then you wouldn't be using an iPhone for on-the-go music now would you?).
